The safety of lithium-ion batteries is a major concern for companies using this technology. Whether it concerns e-bikes, drones, or tools, it is essential that the batteries are stored and charged safely.
The LOXXER VDMA cabinet offers an advanced solution for the safe storage and charging of lithium-ion batteries. This charging cabinet has been tested and passed VDMA 24994, which means it meets the strictest safety standards. This provides companies with the assurance that their batteries can be stored and charged safely, even in the event of an incident.
Testing and certification
If you want to be sure of the quality of the cabinet, make sure that the VDMA 24994 test is conducted by a specialized testing institute, such as GRYFITLAB. This testing lab is one of only two testing labs accredited by the ECB-s, which again demonstrates the quality and high standard of the testing lab.
The VDMA test and LOXXER
To comply with the VDMA 24994 standard, a lithium-ion battery is intentionally heated in the battery cabinet to cause a thermal runaway. During the testing process, various key parameters are measured:
- Temperature: The temperature on the outside of the cabinet is measured to ensure it does not increase dangerously.
- Doors: The doors must remain closed during the test to prevent dangerous smoke or flames from escaping.
- Explosion resistance: It is checked whether the doors and the cabinet can withstand the pressure released during a battery explosion.
- Smoke control: The smoke extraction system is tested to ensure that smoke is safely directed out of the cabinet.
- Formation of flames or projectiles: No fire or dangerous projectiles should come out of the cabinet.
The LOXXER cabinet has passed the VDMA test with flying colors, indicating that it can withstand the intensive conditions created during the test.
