A fire suppression blanket does not fully extinguish the fire, but it limits the spread of flames and significantly slows down thermal runaway. This gives bystanders the chance to evacuate and emergency services the time to arrive on site with specialized equipment. For definitive extinguishing and cooling, inundation via a submersion container is generally necessary.

For a fully electric vehicle, the fire suppression blanket of 5 x 6 m is the recommended choice. This blanket can withstand temperatures up to 1,750 °C, does not produce harmful fumes, and limits flame spread. The blanket completely covers the vehicle, providing time for further intervention or waiting for specialized emergency services.

The blanket is designed for fire incidents involving small lithium-ion applications, such as laptops, battery-powered tools, and handheld devices. The blanket is not intended for large battery packs or electric vehicles. Consult LOXXER for advice if in doubt about applicability.

The blanket was subjected to a series of independent tests: the KIWA temperature test according to DIN SPEC 91489, the Magna Steyr battery module fire test, the STFI bending test at 750 °C prolonged exposure, and tests on electrical resistance (DIN 54345-1) and cut resistance (ISO 13997:1999-08).
